Surgery

Grange Veterinary Surgery is a modern, bright, well-equipped centre of excellence for small animals. with more than eighty years of combined experience, our vets and diversely skilled qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses will treat your pet whatever your concerns.  Our most common surgical procedures include: neutering of dogs, cats, rabbits, radiography (x-rays), including Kennel Club / British Veterinary Association hip/elbow scoring, dental procedures including surgical extractions, lump removals, caesarians, splenectomies, exploratory laparotomies.

Our team operates using modern anaesthetics and procedures which we are proud to keep updated and review regularly to ensure your pet’s procedure runs as smoothly as possible. We set aside the time to talk you through your options with the likely outcomes and risks for all surgical procedures, including an idea of the anticipated fees.  We are pet owners ourselves and know what an anxious time it can be waiting to hear news on your pet’s progress and so we will keep you updated throughout your pet’s stay if you prefer.  We are keen to look after your pet as we would one of our own and usually recommend pre-anaesthetic blood testing prior to surgery to screen for underlying health problems, allowing us to be better informed and to maximise your pet’s safety.  We run the testing in our own on-site laboratory and have the results in minutes, so we can tailor treatment precisely.

As soon as possible after admission, your pet will receive his/her premedication to allow them to settle before their anaesthetic making their stay as stress free, and therefore as safe as possible.  We also have separate dog and cat wards to minimise stress between these species.  While your pet is asleep, he/she will be given any necessary pain relief and also be fully monitored until they are fully recovered and are able to stand comfortably.
